Patriots are Getting Sued
A lawsuit was filed by a former Rams player and others seeking millions of dollars in damages from the alleged taping of Rams practices by the New England Patriots before the 2002 Super Bowl.
The $100 million suit, filed on behalf of former Rams player Willie Gary in U.S. District Court in New Orleans, names the Patriots, team owner Robert Kraft and head coach Bill Belichick.
The suit was filed Friday according to the Boston Herald. The Herald reported the planitfs include Gary, a backup safety and special teams player for the Rams, Peter Trout, the owner of two Rams seat licenses, and ticket holders Marcus Miller and Kevin Hacker. The lawsuit seeks $35 million in damages covering loss of Super Bowl rings, bonuses and endorsements for the Rams players as well as the cost of $400 tickets for the fans at the game.
Meanwhile, the lawyer for former Patriots employee Matt Walsh said his client is willing to turn over videotapes he made for the team if the NFL guarantees Walsh protection from lawsuits or other legal action.
This is yet another crazy event to happen to the Patriots, they are really getting backed into the corner this off season. Could it be the Super Bowl loser curse?
